I can't complain about life at the moment -- I officially changed my name on Friday -- I am now Kristen Marie Esgate. Zero was getting agitated for a while because I just ended up putting it off for one reason or another lately (unintentionally, I swear!), haha.

Been playing the WOWs again a lot. I have a 80 holy/shadow dual spec priest (currently 2175 or so bonus healing and 515/317 mp5) and my enhance shaman is also 80, but not nearly as geared as my priest...Mainly because I am a healer, and they are in demand! Its such a fun game, and I love the fact that they didn't try to be realistic. I think that is why I don't like EQII -- because they try to be realistic, and therefore it doesn't mesh well together. Anyways.

We have a puppy! The cats don't particularly care for him, but it makes sense seeing as though they don't get as much attention :> The puppy is a Pomeranian and we named him Geronimo! We thought about "bear" like names, but nothing fit. He's a black and tan and completely adorable, especially when he growls -- he's only 2 lbs!

Just got home from work and sipping on a rum and diet. Thinking of writing a Snape/Hermione fanfic, I have a wee bit of a plot bunny running through my mind...But I've never really written anything like that before so ehhh I don't know.

PS Zero said he'd dress as Snape for me for Halloween ;) I'm so going to be Hermione! Hhaahaha!

PPs Rocky Horror's anniversary is on the 25th. Yays! One year of Rocky!

Money, Yard Sales and Cars

So, money is a bit short but only because I had vacation time from work. I get paid vacation of course, but I called off two trips prior to my actual vacation; I essentially had three weeks off. However this caused me to get no check for a week. It will all be back to normal shortly with my next check.

I have a lot of stuff. I'm a shopaholic, I spend money all the time on whatever I want. Its a good and a bad thing, really -- I don't use credit, which is good. The bad part is that I am spending all my money on either bills, food or whatever, and I have nothing to save. I want to have a yard sale, I'm just curious as to whether or not I could actually pull one off. I have lots of goth, punk, and your general alternative type of stuff, whether it is clothing, purses, books, etc. I'm collecting stuff in my house right now that I would like to get rid of...And I have a storage spot and a half off my dad's full of crap I probably haven't seen in like, two years now.

As far as cars go, I want to get a new car and give my old one to my sister Charlie. However, I am really eyeing kit cars on eBay right now. Such as 1929 Mercedes looking cars. I drool over them :o

Oh, by the way, whether or not I get one of those cool cars, guess who's licence plate next year is going to be "STMPUNK"? BOOSH!

May 9th is our wedding. I can't wait for it to be over, quite honestly. And if for some god-awful reason I decide to get married again later in life slash we renew our vows or WHATEVER: its Vegas, baby.

In all fairness, my mom and Zero's mom have done a lot of the planning and work. But getting the clothing for my bridesmaids has been so stupid. I ordered two dresses to be custom made from someone on Ebay. I just got them yesterday and these fuckwads totally switched the measurements around for each dress. I felt SO bad. And its not as though either girl can still wear their intended dress - one girl is rail thin and the other one is bigger than me. *sighs*

Still waiting on my dress too, but I was just emailed today saying it was done. Awesome. Made by http://ckhall.com. I actually noticed she had another custom dress for sale on Ebay :( Its for an actual bridal victorian bustle gown ... for $1,700 lol I'm not prepared to spend THAT much (although my dress did come close to half that cost).

All in all, I still have to find a dress for Sammi. The dress Amanda was supposed to get is too big, but hopefully can be tailored down to her size - it was the dress she wanted, after all. If it can't be, she can still wear the one that was supposed to be for Sammi as it fits Amanda almost perfectly.

Charlie's dress (maid of honor/sister) should be coming in the mail today. I hope that fits.

If nothing else, I've cobbled together some awesome Steampunk outfits from thrift store finds, although we'll hit up (sp ->) Playdo's Closet and Just Like New in CP for brown dresses.

PROM NIGHT at Rocky Horror, this Saturday! And I'm performing :> Haven't performed in liek, two months now. I'm excited. I found awesome dresses to wear as Frank from thrift stores!

Steampunk Wedding

So I've been heavy in Steampunk lately...At least the last year, year and a half. I've only recently (as in the last four months or so) actually gotten clothing together to wear as a Steampunk. Honestly, I've read all the classic stories, and liked them immensely, that have influenced these fashions. My fiance, Zero Phoenix, is into it as well he just doesn't like "playing" as I call it ;) At Rocky he'll don Steampunk attire, but not regular life like I have been doing. It is so fun dressing in Victorian-inspired fashions! People do double takes, because they weren't sure they saw the first time, and little old ladies have stopped me in stores telling me how cute I look. Its sort of akin to dressing in Lolita fashions, but...Hmmm...More grown up? Maybe. I still consider it playing!

I've gotten a LOT of my clothing from thrift stores. Inspiration comes from the few movies that have also influenced the fashions: Wild Wild West (love the spiderweb clothing!), Steamboy, City of Lost Children, just to name a few. And there are tons of books! Too many to even remember although I must mention Jules Verne and H.G. Wells.

At Rocky, we're (or me, rather most of the time) the only ones to dress this way so far. But our Wedding is Steampunk themed, and we're delighted that sooo many people said they would also be dressing up. My mom, sister, and mother in law don't really have the correct era for their dresses (they were thinking more along the lines of Pirates of the Carribean) but hey, they are having fun so I can't fault them.

I'm also getting some awesome costumes together for the next Rocky Horror convention in Ohio in May. I think I'll bring my wedding dress just because it is insanely kick ass (I'll have a "turtle butt" as Zero says XD) as it is an accurate Victorian bustle dress. I don't have it yet but hopefully it will be done before the wedding! If not I have a back up XD

Anyways, I discovered a walking stick that has a beautiful telescope that pops out of the top, and ordered one from a website. Unfortunately they are all out, but the website didn't say that! REALLY SUCKS. So I went and searched around online and came to a website that also sold it...And they had one left. I was glad I called customer service for it, because they let me order it right then and there. I should have it on Thursday if all goes well.

I've also had a few people make me stuff through Etsy's Alchemy section. I LOVE that. Its so awesome for being able to get exactly what you want. Right now someone is making me a costume for the "Movies" dance that will be at the Rocky Con, as well as a nice silver vest for Steampunking it up, a new more screen accurate garter for my Frank costume as well as a leather vest for Sweet T as well.

All in all things are going well. I still hate my job but hey, I'm in a great position right now. We actually have a government that wants rail (and are willing to invest in high speed rail too!).

Mainly because I saw Twilight. After reading the entire series (and being thoroughly disappointed by the 3rd and 4th books) I just HAD to see it. It was adorable, in the sense that well, it was a sappy vampire in love with a human movie. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.

And the character sort of reminds me of Zero ^_^

Anyways, our house is our house. We had little trickles of water in our basement back a few months ago now when NW Indiana got bad flooding, but that was it. Our humidifier - which is hooked up to the house's heating system - has given us more grief than that flooding did. I don't know much about it and the info I found online doesn't help, its just that it was leaking water when it was turned on. Sooo we just turned it all the way off. It started pretty much as soon as the weather changed anyways, so I'm sure we just need to clean the filter or fiddle with its settings.

I'm wondering what traffic will be like today going to Chicago. I hope its not bad, as I have to work today on Thanksgiving XD

Rocky is going well, I am loving it but not the fact that I'm the only person playing Frank. Hopefully Rodney will indeed start playing Frank, but I'd hate for him to have to perform as Riff Raff and Frank every week. We all deserve time off! He was the only Riff Raff for a long time before we finally got someone else to perform.

Found out that an ex of mine has gone to Rocky. Quite honestly I AM glad I haven't seen him, but it wouldn't bother me to actually see him in the audience either. I mean shit I dance around half naked lol. Its been a few years and I haven't even thought about him until Zero said he saw him in the audience at Halloween anyways.

Well, the moderator bitch that deleted my post sent me a message over LJ and was, again, very rude and snarky. I still can't believe she deleted my post because she didn't like the fact that I called the customer in question entertaining! I mean, she was with all the weird things she said to me! But whatever. I've sent her a message being an asshole right back at her giving her a dose of her own medicine, and have since banned the bitch from sending me messages or commenting in my journal.

In a community like that, moderators should not be imposing their own views on other people, and deleting their member's posts simply for the fact that they don't mesh with their own opinions on the subject at hand.

DIAF you mod, you. :D

Edited to add: I got another message from another moderator.
So, Rocky Horror went great last night. The only thing I get messed up on is floorshow, but that really is everyone. I think it will take a while to get used to everyone and get a good floorshow going, but the rest of Rocky always goes awesome. I have almost a complete Frank jacket but I need to actually pin or do something else to attach my patches to it - right now I just have them pinned on and I have to be careful when wearing it, around other people XD

I so love playing Frank-N-Furter!

The house is also coming along OK. We don't really have the furniture to fill it up, and I think me and Zero are still stuck in a 450 square foot of space mindset. We're still messing it up in the living and dining room, while totally not using the kitchen or second bedroom, or basement for that matter.

It rained pretty hard here a few days ago, and there was some crap stuck in our gutter which caused a large pouring of water on one corner of the house; subsequently, a bit of water leaked into our basement. We had to go out in the rain and get the gutter clear of crap, which didn't take very long. I'm worried about a crack in the basement; luckily we're going to be calling about our home warranty for our AC unit (fan is constantly on, even when the ac itself isn't on) so we'll ask them about where the water came in as well. It never leaked when it rained before anywhere in the basement and we aren't in a flood area either. In any case it wasn't much, and we have a drain down there too so its all good.

So, I had posted an entry to the community Customers_Suck about the weird lady I had on the train who was schizophrenic and all the weird things she said. ... And my post got deleted because the moderator said I was making fun of schizophrenic people. What the fuck? I get a lady on the train who refused to take her medication (which obviously would have kept her sane) and I wrote about the silly things she said to me - and this is deemed off topic and deletable? Please.

I was wondering why, with so many members now, the community doesn't seem to get as many posts. Customers_Suck was supposed to be a place to rant about the stupid, silly, odd, whatever, customers we all get at work, just like Bad_Service is supposed to be a place to complain about the opposite end of the counter. I have seen so many posts over the years that SHOULD have been deleted; I was appalled at the rudeness of the moderator her/itself. Snarky bint moderator posted a snide comment, then deleted my post, presumably so others couldn't read her bitching me out.

I thought thats what the "customers suck snark" community was for; to bitch about the people who posted stuff to C_S, if others thought they were in the wrong or whatever. *shrugs*

Fuck that community. Obviously they are curtailing free speech there now, and I don't want to be a part of it if that is the case. I'm leaving the community as soon as this post is up. It is quite a shame, because it used to be an awesome community. I've been a member of C_S for a few years now, and have made a few friends from it.

House

Well it seems that I am still in apartment-mode; I still seem to mess up my house (same thing with Zero!) because I try to do everything in one particular area, while other spaces remain entirely unused. I think that I'm going to move my craft stuff downstairs and actually create a crafting area. Because when I put my mind to it, I can be very creative - and a destructive force when it comes to making a mess.

I'm thinking of either finishing off the area as an actual room (since the basement is full but unfinished) or just decorating it as is. The problem is the area I want to convert has no heating/ac vent (although there are like six in the rest of the basement). I'm thinking of lining one of the walls (or two, or three...) with bookshelves and having all my books down there. Its a dry basement and we aren't in a flood zone, so I'm pretty comfortable with the idea. I'd really like to convert our second bedroom into a library of sorts, but I don't think Zero is too keen on the idea. Silly people who don't like to read! I was even thinking of decorating it Steampunk style too...

Speaking of Steampunk - I am totally gaga over the style! Me and Zero have both decided that will be the theme to our wedding, when we do get married. No white bloody wedding dress for me, no no no. I'm probably going to end up designing it and making it myself, or commissioning it through Etsy's alchemy section. I've had great luck so far with getting clothing pieces made for me through that. www.etsy.com for all those who have not seen it before. Its an awesome website!

We've also go to become more organized people in general, because I'm getting my two cats, Maestro and Rozz, back from my mom. She was going to keep them pretty much forever, but then the silly woman is getting rid of her apartment/condo thingy...To live with my dad?!? They are not together or anything - she and my sister Charlie are simply going to live in my dad's house because mom is stupid with money. I can already see this situation being a bit awkward, if not downright weird...But whatever. I can't worry about it.

So anyways yes, I get my cats! I just don't know how they are going to react to Zero's cats. Only time will tell.

Other than that the only new news is that I'm getting a different run on the trains. I'll be going to Carbondale, IL and Port Huron, MI. Not the greatest of runs, however, I'll get Sundays and Mondays off. It will be sort of like having a "regular" job, since I'll be working the same days and having the same days off. If I DON'T end up liking it, national bids come up on October so I'd only have to work it for two months or so. The reason I'm doing this is for Rocky Horror -- so I can be there every Saturday night. I'll come home from the last trip on Saturday around 1pm or so, so I can take a nap after getting home from work if I'm uber-tired and BAM! Rocky! Yay!

I'm still playing Frank at Rocky - and oddly enough we have FOUR Franks now! We just got a new guy (who is straight too - amazing!) who wants to be Frank. Since I can be at Rocky now every Saturday, I may start to play Magenta or Janet. I'd prefer Janet, but they need both :x And everyone keeps pushing me to be Magenta, they think I'd be great. I think its the hair, since its longer and red now XD

So, last night I performed at The Art theater in Hobart, IN as Frank for the Rocky Horror Picture Show! It was exciting, although we only had 170 people in the audience - the week before last we had around 250 and our first week we maxed out around 500 people (and had to turn some away).

I'm concerned guys and gals. Without a decent sized audience, there won't be a Rocky Horror showing every Saturday night at The Art. The owner, who doesn't even really care for Rocky all that much, is really only in it for the extra money. If you like Rocky, please try to come to our show! Bring a friend, bring an enemy, or even your mom - after all, we are known as Help Me Mommy!

Other than that, our house is still awesome although we haven't unpacked fully yet. Me and Zero are still kinda stuck in the mind-set of apartment living. And by that I mean we aren't doing much other than playing on our computers or are just hanging around in one section of the house.

However we have been having all non-theater related get-togethers at our house for Rocky. Mainly just the weekly meetings before we actually got into the theater and also for survival kit making parties. Its fun having at least something to do on the weekends I'm not at work. I have friends again whoo!

After nearly two years, The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be returning to NW Indiana. I am SO excited. Me and Zero were previously with the cast The Pink Invaders before we lost (as well as the theatre owner and cast "president" so to speak) the theatre.

While I'm sure a few would love to reclaim the title of Pink Invaders, the cast is known as Help Me Mommy, and will be starting at The Art theatre in Hobart on the 26th.

The theatre itself is beautiful. I had never been there before!

This Old House

I am so in love with our house...Me and Zero finally got to move in a few days ago for good. Our old apartment is gone forever. On Monday Zero had people come over and clean it and get the little we had left there out or tossed in the garbage. Its amazing because the very next day the owner had it rented (without seeing it? or perhaps he showed it while we were away...eh...).

Either way good riddance! It is amazing how much space we have here, even without the upper level or basement being finished. We went from about 450 square feet to 1300 here. Most of our stuff is still in the garage; we intended to leave it in there for a few days while someone painted but that sort of fell through (I guess the guy isn't named "Asshole David" for nothing!). So we'll slowly but surely be bringing in our stuff.

And, zomg, ROCKY HORROR! I am so hyped about being in a Rocky cast again. I really enjoyed the cast the second time around (the first time I quit because my now-fiance was a douche and always shouted extremely rude things while I performed).

I am so excited that I got Frank-N-Furter's "BOSS" tattoo on my right shoulder/bicep. Talk about really getting into character! I got it done at the tattoo shop right next to the fiance's gun range.

I'm also getting my floorshow corset made by somenone off of www.etsy.com I love that website!

I also did something creative on one of my last train trips - I wrote a zine about our whole experience in buying our house. It goes from how we decided to buy one in the first place, through all the shit-tastic houses we had to see to finally come to this one...And then actually just getting into the damn place XD When I can figure out how to easily/painlessly copy the zine and put them together perhaps I'll post it up for sale on etsy.

Thats another thing about this house...I have the opportunity to have a creative space. Whether or not its downstairs or on the first floor, I could have a dedicated area for crafting all sorts of things. There are so many possibilities here!

Plus the neighborhood is great and the people who live here are very nice. There are a lot more icky bugs but thats because we actually live around green stuff instead of the paved roads. And it is so quiet here! Its so weird not hearing cars zipping by all hours of the night, or not hearing people beneath us shouting at 4 am because they just got out of the bar across the street.

I can get used to this.

Me and Zero closed on our house on the 12th. We won't get the keys until Thursday though, as the sellers took their seven days after closing to get out. The funny part is they tried to get MORE time! :O The reason it is funny is because, well...They bought their real estate agent's house XD I find that very...Odd? In a way. Especially since they did not go through the real estate agent's agency. But whatever. In essence they were trying to get extra time not for themselves but so their real estate agent could then move out of her house. Very odd. But again whatever.

I can't WAIT to move in! We also have extra money from what we pooled together - about $3500 (adding in my last check). Zero's mom has bought us a living room, dining room and will be buying us bedroom sets of furniture as well. Personally, I'd like to have picked out what we would get however, free furniture is free furniture and its nice looking stuff anyways.

One of my fiance's regular shooters at the gun range told Zero that he went past our soon to be house, and saw that the people where moving furniture out of it. Ten days to closing! Perhaps we might even get the keys that day, even though the sellers can have an extra week after closing to get out.

I love our house. Everyone else does too. SO JEALOUS.

Oh, by the way - we're getting the band back together, as someone else said.

THATS RIGHT BOYS AND GIRLS. Rocky Horror Picture Show will once again rock NW Indiana's socks off.

I can't wait for that either. Apparently The Art theatre in Hobart will be our new host. They're also apparently going to be buying the RHPS print for us! How awesome is that?

I don't know if I'll be able to play Frank this time around, and my work schedule will still suck for performing on a regular basis. But this time around I have the money to get kick ass costumes and I'll have the space to sew my own, if needed as well. Any of the other female roles I'd love to play...

We'll just have to see :) I'm sure it will still be months away from opening on the first Saturday. But I can't wait. I had so much fun performing at Rocky on Saturday nights.

So me and Ed got our engagement rings. But mine doesn't fit :( Well, sort of. Today it oddly seems to be more snug but isn't making my ring fall asleep. Ah well. I may give it a few more days of wear to see if it will be alright; if not I know I can exchange it still.

I decided that I WANT a jeweled ring now :P I've discovered that there are such a thing as BLACK diamonds whoo! Very cool in my opinion. Unfortunately there aren't a whole lot being sold in the jewelry stores around where I live, so I may order a ring online. There is quite a selection on Ebay, but I'm not sure if I should go that route either. While the prices are half what jewelry stores around here charge (or even less!) its still a risk to be buying something like that online and I'm not sure if I want to do that. Albert's had exactly one black diamond ring and it was $1,050. I was very tempted to buy it except for the fact that, well, the same ones are on ebay for $300. I guess I'll wait to see.

My cavalier is going to be fully paid off soon. I'm thinking of dumping that for a mini cooper in the next year some time. Those cars are so ugly they are cute!

And last thing I can think to write about: I haven't bitten my nails in about a week now. I feel oddly proud of myself for that.

For some reason I felt compelled to write the story of how me and my boyfriend Zero got together. While it is a rather long story I think it only took up a little more than ten pages but whatever. Thinking it might be good zine material ;) At least it is something to do when I am bored.

Still no houses. After getting rejected on that last one, our realtor had to go in for some surgery on her one knee and she's not supposed to do a whole lot of walking until at least the 1st of the next month. This whole house buying business has been a story in itself thats for sure! Some of the nicer ones had only one or two things wrong with them, but they were major things. Such as the bigger house from the first time owner which looked immaculate but was next to Kennedy Ave. Or the really neat looking "vintage" house or two we saw but could tell that it flooded in the basement. And lets not forget the totally renovated and modern looking house that had a sagging front porch and faced (unused and growth topped) train tracks. What a lovely view, not!

It will be great to find a house though. I'm tempted to try my hand at gardening again. Well I shouldn't really say "again" as the last time I was going to, I got hit by a drunken driver on my way home from working at Domino's. Whiplash kinda hampered those plans :P But anyways, I saw an article on composting in Welness magazine and thats what sort of sparked the idea. Plus it would be a great excuse to get a little exercise.

Speaking of magazines: just for giggles I bought "Gothic Beauty" among some other magazines to read on my work trip. I gotta say, while some of the things in there were totally laughable, there were pictures of a couple that apparently were on the show "Amazing Race". I wish I watched it! Anyways, the woman is so beautiful XD I wish I could dress and do my hair how I want. Of course I could but that would mean quitting my job, and I'm not quite prepared to do that since yanno, I can't get a job at any other places where pink fluffed out hair and black pvc clothing is socially acceptable.

Although I am going back to black hair tonight. I'm rather excited as my hair length is past my shoulders now. I'm just so sick of the blonde hair!

There is no longer a Rocky Horror out here in NW Indiana. True enough Chicago has two of their own casts, but one is actually way out in Illinois now, and the other just sort of sucks for what it is as far as I'm concerned and have been told by multiple people.

The guy that was in our cast and who was also the theater owner of the Pink Invaders had to sell his place because he was losing money on it. He ended up moving to the east coast, but I have his profile on my myspace. I am so completely jealous because he's appeared to have found another cast to join out there :(

As far as the rest of life goes, it goes by OK. We haven't looked at any houses since our realtor has had surgery on her knee, and she won't be able to do anything until the first of next month. But I guess it really doesn't matter since there isn't/wasn't much that caught our eye after those two other houses.

Work is better now that I have this little run. It means more driving to Chicago yeah, but I think I'm less stressed out.
Well me and Zero are currently getting a list of new houses together to get our realtor to take us to go look at. We also got our financing upped to $120,000; we originally only financed around $75,000 because we thought we would be buying the crap house of Georgeanne's. Anyways.

My job on train 305 got abolished, so I had to make a bump. I really don't like any of the other corridor trains schedules but also don't have much of a choice, either. The run I chose for the interim works like this:

Day 1: Report time 5 am, go to STL and back to CHI, if we're on time home around 10pm
Day 2: Report 4:30 pm, go to STL layover night
Day 3: Report 6 am, go back to CHI get home around noonish.

Not entirely terrible, but I loved my run for the initial afternoon report time :P It will go back up for bids which is great, except that they are changing the hours so I don't know what it will run like.
